Boundary Waters Fishing Guide LLC is located in Ely, Minnesota. We are a full service fishing guide service offering trips in and around the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. We’ll argue that Ely is one of the best kept fishing secrets left in the Midwest. Our mission is to provide our customers with a great experience on the water and memories that will last a lifetime! Returning customers are a big part of our business. Some of whom have been fishing with us since the beginning of our guiding careers, which goes to show the quality of customer service we provide. A trip with Boundary Waters Fishing Guide is about more than just catching fish. It’s a full experience of learning skills, and seeing what the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness has to offer.
Meet Our Guides
Nate Hommerding - Owner/Guide
Nate has been guiding full time on Ely area lakes and in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness since 2020. Nate grew up in Northern Wisconsin where he started fishing at a very young age. It didn’t take long for him to develop a deep passion for the sport. Fishing all over Minnesota and Wisconsin has allowed Nate to sharpen his skills and hone his knowledge. Nate takes great pride in making sure his customers have an enjoyable experience, sharing tips & techniques, and of course catching fish! When not in a boat guiding you can find Nate paddling around the BWCA camping and looking for that next trophy fish, wandering the mountains of Wyoming on horseback guiding for elk and mule deer, fly fishing streams and rivers out west, and ice fishing all over the ice belt.
Nick Walter - Guide
Nick has been a full time fishing guide in the Ely area since 2018. Growing up in Ely, Nick has been fishing the area lakes and Boundary Waters lakes since a young age. Spending his life chasing the variety of fish that call this area home, Nick has honed his skills and has turned his passion into a year round career. Nick is a very experienced multi-species angler, but specializes in fishing for walleye and the elusive lake trout. When not guiding you can find Nick out chasing waterfowl with his dog Chili in the Dakotas and Texas, chasing lake trout through the ice during the cold winter months, spending days on end hunting snow geese along the central flyway, or just simply fishing with his dog enjoying a sunset.
